The Shrine is where they usually have big events such as the Emmy Awards, Oscars, Concerts, etc.. This event is called, "Dolphy at 80!" For some of you who don't know who that is. He is the legendary comedian from the Philippines. He had a concert this past Saturday, October 11, 2008. It was sponsored by NuVision and McFadden & McFadden. NuVision is the company who started the very first Filipino American Visionary Awards held last March. NuVision teamed up with McFadden & McFadden to produce this show.The night of October 9th 2008 was the press conference held at Celebrity Center in Hollywood, CA. Different press' such as journalist, photographers, and reporters were there. It was the night where I actually experienced being on the red carpet. haha. It was just really interesting and weird at the same time. But it was a fun and a great experience! I watched a few talented artists on stage. The performers were Stephanie Reese, Ava Johnson, Liezl, and others. The food was really great that night and I was able to watch everyone being interviewed at the press con after.
The day of the show was really hectic. Everyone was just running around setting up and I still had to get dressed when I got there. As I was searching for a good dressing room, I passed Apl.De.Ap from Black Eyed Peas in one of the rooms. There were other performers in different rooms as well as hair dressers and make-up artists. I saw Ramiele Malubay from American Idol later that night. Overall, the show turned out real.
